.. Demands Retraction from Accusers within 24 hours or face legal battle
The executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has dissociated himself or any of his aides from an alleged assault or beating of the immediate past Lagos state auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Elder Wale Ariyibi as well as Mr Israel Akiode.
The council boss said he would not descend so low to order or instruct anyone nor the Lagos state chairman of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, to beat or assault any party member.
Oloyede warned those planning to foment trouble to desist from such devilish act, stressing that as chief security officer of the local government he won't tolerate overheating of the already tensed political situation in the council.
The council boss while reacting to the viral video, he stated that the video being circulated is an attempt to tarnish his image and his towering influence in the state.
According to him "let me reiterate for the sake of clarity, that as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of this local government, I want to place on record that efforts by some people to foment trouble in our local government is devilish and an attempt at creating tension in the land will not be tolerated. We have started our impactful programmes on a good note, and we wouldn't want to be distracted. Oshodi is moving in the right direction of progressive politics."
"Let me also reiterate, for the sake of those who have called and sent messages on the video, there is no iota of truth in the said video, as I sat quietly in the box provided for all the chairmen, while I only stood up once to pay courtesy on his Excellency, the Governor. My good brother, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya was equally seated with dignitaries and I couldn't fathom where the purported beating held. I am a peace loving man and who will not descend so low as to be ordering people to beat up someone in a political function not even anywhere."
"Let it be known that those who have alleged must come up with convincing evidence at the appropriate time, as we will ensure those behind the evil plots are unveiled to serve as a deterrent to other evil perpetrators," he concluded.
Oloyede has also in a message he signed demanded that within 24 hours the duo of Messrs Ariyibi and Akiode should retract their claims or face legal battle.
He said the duo must retract the video using same means to retract their falsehood on his personality.
The statement reads:
"DEMAND FOR RETRACTION
Dear Mr Wale Ariyibi and Hon. Isreal Akiode,
I write in response to the slanderous and defamatory video you both made on 16th Oct, 2021 alleging that I personally attacked you. The video was later released online with caption "Kendoo and Mc-Oluomo Unleashed Attack on Elder Wale Ariyibi and Osha at APC State Congress".
The video was reckless, full of falsehood, defamatory and constitute slander per se against my person and my reputation. You alleged that I personally punched you while Hon. Akiode claimed I ordered my aides to beat him blue-black. You both lied against me and made a video to that effect saying myself and Alh. Musiliu Akinsanya (Mc-Oluomo) threatened your lives. I am putting it to you that throughout the duration of the program, I never set my eyes on either of you, which makes me to wonder where, when and how I personally punched you and also directed my aides to beat you up. Your video is nothing more than a politically-motivated efforts to smear my name, reputation and raising profile. You both know it deepdown that your claims are false and defamatory.
I hereby demand that within 24hours you both retract this statement and tender apology to me, using the same medium of video-clip you earlier used. Failure to do so will leave me with no other option than to institute a legal action and demand for #100,000,000( one hundred million naira) as damages because since the video went viral, people have been calling me to enquire about your falsehood.
I await your retraction within 24hours.
Thank you.
Signed:
Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede,
Executive Chairman, Oshodi-Isolo local government."
