Council Tenders Board Gives Contractors Ultimatum to Complete Projects

The Tenders Board of the Oshodi-Isolo local government has given contractors handling various roads and pipe-borne water projects across all the 7 wards of the council ultimatum to complete the projects or lose their contracts.

The board headed by the council vice-chairman, Hon.(Mrs) Modupe Badmus-Aregbe, handed the ultimatum to the contractors when she and other members of the board visited sites of the ongoing projects on Monday.

Other members of the board include the council procurement officer as secretary, council-manager, council engineer, legal officer and representatives from works and infrastructure department.

Hon. Badmus-Aregbe however expressed satisfaction with the level of work progress in most of the ongoing projects but said those yet to be completed must be completed within two weeks from now.

She said the council tenders board will not hesitate to terminate any contractors' job that fails to meet up with the deadline set. She also reiterated that any contractor whose job is found below standard will have his or her contract summarily terminated.

She said; "If you are unable to deliver your job within the stipulated time, we will not hesitate to terminate such contract. This does not mean you should do a shabby job, we want a good and quality job delivered within record time."

"I want you to do a diligent work on every road project given to you. We don't want to be called again in few weeks after completion for repairs of the roads."

The committee commended those contractors that have delivered on record time and also lauded the quality job done.

They also visited some pipe-bornewater projects across the wards, the water project sites visited were rated good while urging speedy completion of others.
