Lagos Assembly Adjudges Oshodi Customary Court Best in Lagos

 







The Lagos State House of Assembly, House Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights Public Petition and Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has adjudged the Oshodi-Isolo local government customary court best in the state.


Speaking at an oversight function visit to the local government on Thursday, Chairman on Judiciary, Human Rights Public Petition and LASIEC, Hon Victor Akande said of all the customary courts visited Oshodi-Isolo is the best.


Hon Akande said the council earn its mark as a result of the well-equipped court by the local government with an air conditioner, fans and enough chairs cum a detention room with a toilet facility.



Akande accompanied by the lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Hon Jude Idimogu was received by the Vice Chairman Oshodi-Isolo local government, Hon Modupe Badmus-Aregbe who represented the chairman Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, in company of the Council Manager, Mrs Latifat Balogun, the council legal officer, Mrs Adekoya Obafemi, President of Oshodi, Mrs Funmilayo Ogunsanwo, along with other management staff members.


He said; "I am very and highly impressed with the setting of the court and all the infrastructure they provided and the support the council gives the court. I have no doubt that they have been done wonderfully well, like I said,  I am not a judge but they score 90%."


He also commended the support the current chairman is giving the court.


The lawmaker said their visit to the various customary courts in the state will further help good working relations and better legislation on how to improve the customary courts in the state.



While receiving the visiting team, the council vice chairman, Hon Badmus-Aregbe, appreciated the committee for their oversight function as she promised that more support will be given to the customary court to make it perform optimally.


Hon Idimogu also commended the council chairman for the support his administration is giving to the court. 


President of the court, Mrs Ogunsanwo, informed the visiting team of the tremendous support they have been enjoying by the Otunba Oloyede led administration, saying it has further helped the operations and productivity of the court proceedings. 



She said the council has continued to give the court all needed support to make it function effectively.
