Arising from shock of the unwholesome and gruesome killing of his Deputy chief of staff, Hon. Goke Oguntulu, by unknown gunmen, the Oshodi-Isolo local government chairman, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede, has vowed to lead an onslaught against crimes and criminality within the local government.
Oloyede who still mourns his late staff made the pledge at a meeting he held with executives of the Community Development Committee (CDC/CDAs) of the council at his office on Wednesday.
The council boss appealed to the community leaders to assist the government in fishing out and apprehending criminals within the various communities.
"We will not allow criminals to sway in our community, we have devised new means to curb criminality in our council and we urge you to give in your support in this fight against crimes in our society. I will lead an onslaught against any form of crime and criminality in our local government. If you know any of their hideouts, alert me directly, I will be the person to lead the operation of arresting and jailing the criminals in society. As a government, we will not fold our arms and allow the criminals to scot-free in the society".
The council boss said, in ensuring effective community policing, a community vigilante group will be in place to man all areas within the local government in an attempt to support the police and other law enforcement agencies. He promised to equip and empower the police force within the council for effective performance.
He said: "I will empower security agencies to enable them to perform effectively. When the vigilante groups come in place, we will ensure a mutual and cordial relationship between them and other security agencies to lead our society of criminals. I will give it my all to ensure security in Oshodi."
Assuring the council chairman of their unalloyed support, the chairman of the CDC, Alhaji Olawoyin, promised the council boss that they will do all within their reach to support the council.
He said; "we want to appreciate the chairman for this all-important meeting on security, we want to assure you that we are ready to support your administration in ensuring security in our communities."
