Oshodi-Isolo LGA APC Holds Meeting to Foster Peace, Unity within the Party

























 



The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government under the chairmanship of Hon. Saheed Animashaun, has held a general meeting in the local government secretariat where party leaders, LGA and Ward Executive members were asked to eschew politics of bitterness, acrimony and divisiveness. 


The meeting had in attendance notable party leaders covering different groups and caucuses within the party. Leaders that were not present sent their representatives while others tendered apology for their absent in the all important meeting. 


While addressing the gathering, the party chairman, Hon. Animashaun, stressed the importance of the meeting noting that the issues at hand are serious and required rapt attention from the party leadership hence the meeting. He stated that it is a must for the party to win the coming election at the local government level and anything that would prevent that from happening must be prevented. 


According to him, "the essence of this meeting is to have a hard discussion on how the party can be united, forge ahead and emerge victorious in the coming elections. All the party leaders were reached out to and duly invited to this meeting for a robust discussion". 


Responding was a leader of the party in Oshodi and Chairman of Lagos State Park and Garages Committee, Alhajia Musiliu Akinsanya ( aka MC Oluomo) who noted that some of the leaders were not around but they all gave reasons for their absence. Due to the important nature of the issues to be discussed and the various leaders that were not on ground, he pleaded that the meeting be reconvene to give the leaders absent enough time to plan their schedule. 


In his words, "I can see that some of our leaders are not here today. The issues at hand are very important and I want to urge our Apex leader, Pa. J. O. Olabintan, to reconvene the meeting so that they can have enough time to plan their schedule and attend the next one. If truly we all belong to Asiwaju, now is not the time for anyone to be angry. We must all work together to ensure victory for our party and its candidates and do away with our individual interests".


Also responding was the APC State Auditor, Hon. Doyin, who said he was present to represent the State Chairman. He emphasized the supremacy of the party and said other state executive members would also be around for the next meeting. He implored all agrieved members to sheath their swords and work in oneness. 

The Oshodi-Isolo local government chairman Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede who was represented by the Vice Chairman Mrs Modupe Badmus-Aregbe thanked chairman, the leaders and all for their time and genuine efforts to reconcile all aggrieved party members in the council.


The council boss reiterated his commitment to an all inclusive administration saying all aggrieved members will soon be reconciled as efforts have started to achieving that.


The  former Special Adviser to a former Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Civic Engagement , Hon. Taye Ayedun ( aka Shanana) also joined the leaders in calling for peace, unity and harmony within the party. He noted that the party cannot afford to lose any of its candidates from state to federal. 


While capping it all, the Apex leader, Pa. J. O. Olabintan, appreciated all present, and thanked them for their time. He stated that due to human nature, it is possible for some of the members to be agrieved. He however said they should learn to resolve their differences amicably and not allow it to fester to what would affect the positive outcome of the party. 


Personalities present in the meeting include former LG chairman, Prince S.O. Aina, Oshodi Constituency 1 LAHA candidate, Otunba Stephen Ogundipe, chairman APC reconciliation committee, Alhaji Shittu Sabitu, Alhaja Shobayo, Chief Mrs M.O. Alabi, elder M. A. Salako, Chief Femi Akeju, elder Sunday Akinwale and House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Muyiwa Olabintan.


Others include leader of the House, Hon. Rasheed Obasa, all the Councillors, Secretary to the local government, Hon. Smart Olayinka, Chief of Staff, Hon. Leke Banjoko, Supervisory Councillors, Special Advisers, as well as all the ward Chairmen, ward excos and host of others.
