The APC 377 ward youth leaders across the 57 Local Government and LCDAs, in Lagos have held their inaugural meeting and appointed executive members to pilot the affairs of the group. The meeting was hosted by the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede.
At their inaugural meeting, members resolved that the official name of the group should be "Congress of Ward Youth Leaders". They also elected executive members who will be in acting capacity pending when the substantive excos will elected into various offices.
The inaugural meeting saw APC ward youth leaders from all the 57 Local Governments and LCDAs attend and elective posts were shared based on senatorial zones in Lagos State.
The convener of the group, Hon. Gideon Balogun from Oshodi-Isolo local government, was unanimously voted as the chairman of the group with other members emerging from Lagos East and Lagos Central Senatorial Zones.
While delivering his acceptance speech, Hon. Balogun noted that he was compelled to initiate the group due to the important roles the youths will be playing in the coming general elections to compliment the overstretched job of both LGA youth leaders and the State Youth Leader, Dr. Seriki. He stressed that 74% of the new registration for INEC Permanent Voter's Card were youths, hence the need for APC ward youth leaders to organize themselves so as to be able to deliver maximum votes for the ruling APC, and properly galvanize the youths.
In his words, "the coming general elections is going to be youth driven, we as ward youth leaders, cannot but promote and project our candidates starting from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our amiable Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all other APC candidates in our various local governments. Politics is local, we at the ward level are the ones daily interacting with the people and we are the ones that have bulk of the job to do. We must strategically position ourselves to deliver for our party."
He promised that the 377 members of the group will work assiduously towards ensuring that all APC candidates emerge victorious.
The APC LGA chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Hon. Saheed Animashaun and APC candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly for Oshodi Constituency 1, Otunba Stephen Olukayode Ogundipe (Omojomolo), both addressed the group. They urged them to continue in their drive towards ensuring that APC emerge victorious. They both promised to support the group anytime the need arises.
