In fulfillment of the promise made , Oshodi-Isolo local government, through the UNDP vocational center, has kicked off the training of interested youths on mechanical engineering, road and building construction.
The intensive and practical training will see trainees being tutored in different segments in purely practical mode. The best 4 positions will also be sponsored to Italy by the local government to further their skills and receive international exposure.
While addressing the selected trainees before being deployed to the field, the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede advised the trainees to be dedicated and make the best use of the opportunity of the training. He reiterated his earlier promise of sponsoring some of the best students abroad to further their studies.
According to him, "I want to congratulate those of you that have shown interest and scaled through the screening process. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and I urge you all to take it seriously. Remember the local government will be spending a lot of money on training you both locally and internationally. We are committed to fulfilling our earlier promise of sponsoring the best four of you abroad for international exposure and additional training. I wish you all the best in the best".
Also addressing the trainees were the Special Adviser to the chairman on Education, Hon. Ajoke Onitolo and the UNDP Coordinator, Hon. Afeez Adesanya. They both implored the trainees to be serious, noting that there are many people interested in such rare opportunity. They informed them that attendance, seriousness, commitment and skills will be some of the criteria to be considered in the final selection process.
The training has since commenced with the road construction segment before moving to other sections.
