Oshodi-Isolo Council Chair, Oloyede Calls for Reconciliation, Special Stakeholder's Meeting

... Reviews performance of the council in the last election, plans for Gubernatorial, Assembly elections

In a bid to review and improve on the last Feb. 25th, 2023 general elections and appraise the activities leading to the election, the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has called for a reconciliation and Special Stakeholders meeting amongst the political heavy weights within the local government.

The crucial meeting which was held at the marriage registry hall of the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government had in attendance political office holders both from the state and the local government, the state APC exco, councillors led by the leader of the house, cabinet members of the local government, leaders, elders and past political office holders within the local government.

While welcoming people to the important meeting, the council chairman appreciated the APC family for the electoral victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said as much as he is happy about the general outcome of the election nationwide, he is not pleased with the performance of the local government. He stressed that the local government would have performed better but for certain challenges that truncated the plans that had been put in place.

He said, "Before anything, I want to congratulate us all for the emergence of our dear leader and president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Though he has emerged the president-elect, there is need for us to review the activities leading to the election, the roles played by certain individuals and groups and how it affected our general output. Though we delivered in Oshodi but the margin is not encouraging.

The essence of this meeting is to look ourselves in the eyes and speak the truth so that we can move ahead and not repeat the past mistakes we experienced in the last election. I am ready to sit, listen and accommodate everyone in order to forge ahead and build a united family. I am ready to accommodate demands in order to move forward".

The State APC exco, Hon. Israel Akiode, representing physically challenged, appreciated the chairman for calling for such a meeting in a critical time as this. He said now is the time for all the party hierarchy to come together and ensure they deliver for the Governor and the house of assembly. He noted that all hands must be on deck and that everyone must see themselves as one big family without any animosity going to the election.

Contributing was a former Council chairman of the local government, Prince Samuel Omotosho Aina, who said the local government narrowly delivered due to the fact that many people did not come out to cast their votes on election day. He reminded the gathering that the policy of the party had always been that once the primary election has been conducted, all party members are expected to queue behind the candidate, but that was not the situation. He pleaded for the success of the candidates of the party as we approach the coming election.

The Oshodi-Isolo local government area chairman of the APC, Hon Saheed Animashaun who coordinated the meeting thanked all leaders for attending the meeting and for their effort at the last election.

He urged them to work together for more success at the coming elections.

Also contributing was another leader within the local government, Hon. Ogunshakin who pointed that political office holders and party executives should buckle up and discharge accordingly for the party. He noted that some people that were either appointed or elected were not helping the party at their various domains. He advised that everyone should go back to their domain and talk to the voters.

Lagos State House of Assembly member, representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 1, Hon. Akeem Olusola Shokunle suggested that every stakeholder should man their locality. He advised each leader to be the point man for his polling unit, zone and ward. He said if leaders make themselves available, their followers will have no choice but to come out.

The chairman of Lagos State Park and Garages Management Committee, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya (Mc-Oluomo) said each person should deliver his/her polling unit. He said if everyone is determined to deliver his unit for the party, the party would not struggle to win. He charged everyone to ensure that the errors and mistakes made in the last election did not repeat itself. He said all hands should be on deck.

Personalities at the meeting include the vice chairman of the local government, Hon. Mrs. Modupe Badmus-Aregbe, Leader of the House, Hon. Rasheed Obasa who led all other Councillors, Secretary to the local government, Hon. Smart Olayinka, Chief of Staff, Hon. Leke Banjoko, a former Vice chairman of the council, Barr.
