The executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede breaks fast with the residents of the council yesterday 8th April, 2023, inside the local government secretariat.
In attendance at the break of fasting (iftar) were the council cabinet members, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts among others.
The serene environment saw people calmly seated in an orderly manner while an Islamic cleric offered prayers before commencing the iftar.
Otunba Oloyede, who was flanked by the vice chairman, Hon. Mrs Modupe Badmus-Aregbe, Leader of the legislative arm, Hon. Rasheed Obasa, and the APC LGA chairman, Hon. Saheed Animashaun, said the iftar was necessitated from a grateful heart. He noted that the holy month is a blessed month that Almighty Allah has set aside to give speedy approvals to prayers.
He continued that he is particularly grateful to God for the peaceful conduct of the election within the local government. He said before, during and after the elections, there is peace and tranquility within the local government.
The council chairman equally disclosed that all the candidates of the ruling APC emerged victorious at the election.
He said; "this holy month is a perfect avenue for us all to review our deeds and retract our steps. Our local government have every reason to be grateful to God for firstly making us to have a peaceful electoral process without any form of violence or brigandage whatsoever.
Secondly, all our candidates emerged victorious at the polls. It is in lieu of the above that I think we all need to converge and observe our iftar together in harmony while giving thanks to Almighty Allah".
People were tended with fruits and sumptuous meals while listening to inspirational songs.
It should be recalled that the council chairman has been making available iftar meals available since the commencement of the Ramadan while rotating the meal two moques at a time per day.
Personalities present at the iftar include SLG to the local government, Hon. Smart Akinleye, Chief of Staff, Hon. Leke Banjoko, CDC chairman, Alhaji R.O Olawoyin led members of the community to the iftar, councillors representing Mafoluku, Ewu and Igbehinadun wards, Cabinet members, S.S.As to the chairman, APC party leaders and elders, APC LGA executives, APC members and host of members of the Oshodi community graced the iftar programme on Friday.
