Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 1 MHR, Dr. Dawudu Facilitates Financial Support for Small and Medium Scale Enterprise

 



The honourable member representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 1 at the House of Representatives, Dr. Bashir Dawudo has facilitated financial support to small and medium scale business Owners within his constituent.



The honourable member disclosed that in order to eradicate poverty and support small business owners, there is need to create a sustainable avenue where people would rather be taught how to fish than being given fish. He said artisans have been encouraged to form a cooperative society through which they will be able to access soft loans in order to boost their businesses. 






The federal lawmaker noted that as the MHR, he will pay for the membership fees of each of the members, registration fee of the cooperative society and also give them a capital where they will be able to access with a very minimal single digit interests rate. 

The program which was done in partnership with Small and Medium Scale Enterprise Development of Nigeria (Smedan) will have beneficiaries trained on how to properly prepare their books of account and other business techniques that would aid their sales. 

Speaking at the event, the federal lawmaker disclosed that he came up with this novel idea in order to assist traders within the constituent. He promised to focus more on human capital, youth and women development in his second term in office. 


According to him; "we are here today to kickstart the financial support we aided to our small and medium scale business owners. Our people have been grouped into cooperative societies in relation to their trades, we will pay for their membership fees, registration of the cooperative societies and also make available the capital where they can access as loans with little and convenient interest rate. We are starting with this three for now and our aim is to reach out to 1,500 traders."


Also speaking at the event was the Oshodi-Isolo council chairman, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede who lauded the federal lawmaker for his thoughtfulness and desire to support small business owners. He also encouraged the beneficiaries of the soft loan to make judicious use of it. 


He said; "I firstly want to congratulate my dear brother on his victory at the tribunal. I also want to eulogize him for this initiative. I urge the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds in order to improve their businesses."


Present in the epoch event were the APC State Exco, Hon. Israel Akinode (OSA), High Chief Ajisegiri, High Chief Ogunshakin, APC chairman, Hon. Saheed Animashaun, Chief Mrs Badajoko, Elder Osho, Elder Salako (JP), Hon. Sunday Akinwale, Chief Akeju. 


Others include Hon. Abayomi Kazeem, Temitope Ige, Wasiu Faluade and Azeez Jayeola, honourable councillors representing Mafoluku, Ewu, Afariogun and Igbehinadun wards, supervisors and host of others.
