In fulfilling part of his promises to uplift standard of learning of students of his local government, the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede popularly called Kendoo, has commenced distribution of school bags to the students of the council.
The council chairman began sharing of the school bags to students from the Igbehinadun ward of the council to Afariogun ward with Afolabi, Oshodi, Local Government, Methodist, Wesley and Afariogun primary schools students benefiting from the gesture.
Oloyede represented by the council vice chairman, Mrs Modupeola Badmus-Aregbe distributed the school bags to the pupils in their various classes. She was assisted by the Secretary to thee local government, Mr Smart Akinyele; Chief of staff to the council chairman, Mr Leke Banjoko, as well as some members of the executive council.
The council boss while sharing the school bags remarked that, the school bags distribution is just the tips of the icebergs in his drive to revamp educational institutions within the council jurisdiction.
This gesture is his matching words with action on improving standard of education in the council.
Recalled that the council chairman kicked off the distribution of school bags and other educational materials to the pupils in September with 100 of them from each of the 31 public primary schools within the local area.
At the kick-off program, he promised to reach out to other students that were not at the event held at the Owoseni Primary school of the local government.
Oloyede said infrastructural development of schools will follow in due course to ensure a conducive learning environment for the pupils.
He said; "This exercise is in fulfilment of our promise to revamp the education system in our council. This is just tip of our strong desire to improve the infrastructural development of our schools, we will bequeath a improved standard of education and conducive learning environment for our children."
The pupils were full of appreciation and gratitude to the council chairman for his gesture. A primary 4 pupil of Afolabi Primary school, Ireoluwa Adegbola thanked the chairman for the kind gesture while expressing her happiness.
She said; "I thank the chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government for this gift of a school bag. I am very happy and may God bless him".
Appreciating the council boss was the head teacher of Methodist Primary school, Mrs Janet James Judge as prayed for the success of the chairman's administration.
She said, "I am pleasantly surprised to see the team of the chairman, led by the vice chairman of our local government. The bags given to the students is a welcome idea and may God bless the chairman and make his administration successful. He has been very supportive and we appreciate him."
Otunba Oloyede has promised to give the best to the development of the local government, not just in education, but across the various sectors of the economy. He is not resting on his oars as he is daily working to put smiles on the faces of the residents.
