Rotary Club of Ewutuntun Organises Vocational Skills Seminar, Empowers Six Entrepreneurs

 


Rotary Club of Ewutuntun, District 9111 is set to empower six selected entrepreneurs on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10am at Ibis Royale Hotel, Airport Road, Lagos. 

President Rotary Club of Ewutuntun, Rotarian Bukonla Alamu disclosed that “two fashion designers, two makeovers, and two caterers are to receive equipment and seed capital.”

Alamu stated that “ Vocational seminar on business financing, customer satisfaction, bookkeeping, and accounting shall precede the empowerment program”. 

Chairman Vocational Project Committee, Rotarian Afolashade Akinsanya stated that " financial empowerment and handing over of donated equipment shall be conducted by the Rotary International District Governor District 9111, Dr. Wole Kukoyi, Hon Stephen Ogundipe, member representing Constituency Oshodi-Isolo Lagos State House of Assembly; and assisted by Past Assistant Governor Femi Oloyede, Chief Medical Director High Rock Clinic, Lekki Lagos.”

It could be recalled that the Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun Vocational Skills Acquisitions Graduation for trainees was held by Past President Kudirat Ola-Opoola in 2022-2023 Rotary year in partnership with UNDP Centre Oshodi- Isolo Local Government. 

 In the 2023-2024 year, the Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun District 9111 led by immediate past President, Reuben Osaze Oni graduated another batch of trainees on Tuesday, Sept 19th, 2023 held at Vocational Skills Acquisition at UNDP Centre, Oshodi - Isolo Local Govt Council Secretariat Hall, Oshodi, Lagos with the Immediate Past District Governor, Ifeyinwa Ejezie in attendance at the ceremony. 

The vocational skills training was held for five weeks conducted for unemployed youths by the club in partnership with Oshodi- Isolo Local Government led Chairman, Mr Kehinde Oloyede Almaroof; UNDP Skills Acquisition Centre headed by Rotarian Azeez and supported by Hon Stephen Ogundipe, member Lagos State House of Assembly representing Oshodi Constituency. 

Participants were trained in makeover, fashion and tailoring, catering, event planning, venue decoration, tie and dye of batik and adire, gele tying, hat making, computer graphic designs, and cake making. 

Graduands apart from receiving certificates were financially empowered with various tools of trade and equipment: hairdressing machines for hairdressers, sewing machines for fashion designers, and laptops for graphic designers, among others.

In the 2022-2023 year, the Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun on September 5th, 2022 equally graduated over 1,117 trainees during a ceremony presided over by the first female District Governor, Rotarian Omotunde Lawson. 


The Club has continued to monitor their incubated enterprises through the UNDP Vocational Skills Acquisitions Centre, Oshodi, Lagos.
